24-08-2007 _ Baku, Azerbaijan _ West Azeri Pumping

Just a quick entry....

On Friday I went offshore for a total of 4 days to try and fix the mess which was the last completion I went on. The control line ruptured in the reservoir last time and hydrocarbons had worked their way to the surface with about 3000psi. It was just a two man crew and we had to pump some kill weight brine in the line to temporarily stop the reservoir pressure in the control line.

After this was finished we had to do some other jobs, such as install some software, do an audit of the hardware on the platform and do an investigation on another well. Unforunately four days wasnt really enough to start the investigation work and they wanted us off the platform asap. To even manage to get the first job done we had to change shift to night shift because that was the only time the equipment was available and no other activities were ongoing in the area.

The weather was pretty messy during the night shift. It is hot during the day and very humid at night. Water was condensing on all the metal pipes around us and dripping down like rain, whats more we were constantly swetting. It really isnt nice having to move equipment and do stuff in this weather. Not enough money for this suffering !!

I took the pictures below just as I was about to leave the platform. There has been lots of activity recently around the platforms as the barge in the picture lays underwater water injection lines.
