22-03-2008 _ Baku, Azerbaijan _ Odd Offshore Jobs

In the past month or so I have been jumping between platforms doing job after job. I started on the new Deep Water Gunashli platform for 19 days, one day onshore and then 7 days on West Azeri, a week or so onshore, then 3 days on Central Azeri and straight to East Azeri for another 4 days. Good for my wallet but a real pain in the arse.

The rig floor pictures below are from my time on DWG. The night flaring pictures taken from West Azeri and the indoor ones taken on Central Azeri.

Most of the jobs went well but I had real issues with one of my crew on West Azeri. I arrived there around midday and had to work night shift so had a couple of hours sleep. I got on shift at 6pm and asked a girl on my crew to check some equipment and she refused on the grounds she tested it three weeks ago. Not to mention that the equipment had been used previously and if it had been damaged then it could cost the company thousands of dollars in time penalties. The girl got worse and worse throughout the job and was physically too weak to do most parts of the job; I was repeadily harassed by the rig crew for not helping her enough as she is a girl, but as I told them, she is being paid to do the job and it isnt my fault she isnt strong enough. After the job I found out from someone else that she was being a bitch because she wanted to be supervisor and hence get paid more. She has never been made supervisor on a job because she doesnt have a clue and didnt even know where the tree for the well was. Nearly all the platforms in Baku for BP are identical and she has been in location for over a year!! A nightmare crew...

I am currently waiting on East Azeri for a helicopter to take me back onshore, then in a couple of weeks I will be flying out to Central Azeri. Busy busy busy
