18-03-2007 _ Munich, Germany _ Day2 Weekend break in Europe

Today we woke up early to try to get a full day in Munich, something silly like 8am !! We ate breakfast at the hostel, looked around at some places and then waited at a monument for a free walking tour around the city. The tour was half free, there was no fee for the tour but the person pretty much demanded tips and mentioned it a few times. Neither the less the tour was good and the girl was Australian so easy to understand.

On the tour we visted a fair few monument and she told stories about the history behind all these things and how it related to the second world war. About 80% of the buildings are either restored or rebuilt again from scratch in the last 50 years. On the tour we also visted the Hofbrauhouse and I took a few pictures of the beer mugs which people actually store there. Clearly too many alcoholics in Munich.

A couple of pictures below show views from a big tower. We paid about 1 euro to climb 300 odd steps up a tiny tower and took some pictures in the extreme wind. It was extremely crampt in the tower, although I am not sure what is in the center of it.

That evening we went for an Indian meal. We took a few trains and arrived at some fancy Indian restaurent shown in a free guide book. The food was not particularly spicy but very high quality, much better than the crap they try to sell you in France. After the meal we didnt have much time to get to the airport to fly back, so we jumped on a train and from one of the pictures you can see Rigeuns and Ale were pretty tired :-)
