14-06-2009 _ Bergen, Norway _ WesternGeco Boat Trial
|
WesternGeco Trial in Bergen, Norway As part of new product development I flew to Bergen to help out the seismic part of Schlumberger on one of their research boats. The trial involved spending a couple of days on a small seismic research vessel traversing the Norwegian fjords whilst they set off some small seismic guns. We were only in Norway from Sunday till Thursday so it was a pretty short trip, but definitely a good experience. View from the boat The boat was specifically designed to be small enough such that it didn't require an excessive amount of paperwork to take it out to sea. Similarly it didn't have proper seismic guns as people might complain if they created a massive shock wave in the fjord. We would start early in the morning and then finished up at about 9pm and then go back to the hotel for the night. Due to the lack of direct flights from Bergen to the London area, Graeme and I were able to enjoy a day out in Bergen and a 4 hour cruise of some of the local Fjords on "The White Lady". |
