Some time has passed since my last entry. I havent really done very much, went out a few times did some work and slept. The first week back to work involved a alot of running around because the local population had the whole week off for a national holiday. There were all sorts of things to do and at one point I was the only junior employee left in my segment. End result I had to do it.
There was some talk of me going offshore onto the East Azeri platform again but for one reason or another that looks pretty unlikely. This means that I should have a fair amount of time to plan my trip to france and get all my official training finished off. At the moment I am looking to travel to Paris on the 27th of January for a 9 week course in RMC, then at the end of this travel to the UK for two days to visit the Sensa research center in Southampton. It's going to involve a lot of travelling but I should get by.
On sunday I went to the small "gym" in the appartment block because I was feeling quite bored. In there was a member of staff who works for the company who manage the appartments and I found out from him that the appartment I am staying in costs $6000 dollars a month for 5 people, the majority of whom are rarely all there at one time. At the moment there are only 3 people in the appartment including myself, yet the company are too cheap to pay for broadband internet access for the flat.
Here are a couple of pictures from my bedroom window. I think they help illustrate how much of a gheto Baku is.
