In the evening we were in Havana we were taken to club Tropicana. Upon arrival all the guys are given a cigar and the girls a flower, on each table there was a bottle of rum for every 4 people and a can of coke. Every once in a while they brought out some snacks and you could pay for additional drinks. Tropicana was originally opened in 1939 by the American mafia and since then has been running shows. We then headed out to a few local clubs where a local guy latched onto us in return for free drinks and an opportunity to try to sell us "cheap" cigars. One thing I noticed was that the drinks he was brought were always different to ours, there would always be something different whether it was a different coloured straw or stirrer. I think he was getting non alcoholic drinks and getting a share of the price we paid. I have a great distrust for people who appear to be nice for no reason. |
