04-03-2007 _ Paris, France _ Disneyland Resort Paris

Today I went to Disneyland Paris with Alejandra from my RMC FE course. We started early at 10am and left Disney at 9:30pm, it's all about getting value for money. It cost 54 Euros for a day pass to the whole place; both Disney studios and the Disney park. We started the day in the Disney Studio where they have the higher budget rides and shows. The first thing we went on was a studio tram tour. In this tour you sat on a "tram" and they drove you past some props from old films and stopped in some place which was meant to simulate an oil fire and then a flood of water to put it out. The following two videos show this:

This ride was pretty overrated. Big queue and only minimal fire. The pump jack was a nice addition, although a bit too work related. Perhaps this could have been considered a business trip?

The next thing we were going to do was see the Armageddon ride. We saw the drilling rig from the film but unfortunately the ride was closed due to a "technical problem". There are a couple of pics of the drilling rig below.

Later we went to see a car stunt show. They had cars flying though the air, motorbikes and some fire. The best part was when they simulated someone being on fire. They showed a guy getting lots of layers of flame retardent clothes on and then he caught fire as he flew off a motorcycle. They let him burn for a while and then put him out with some fire extinguishers.

The rest of the day was spent going to various rides, most of which were some sort of roller coasters or slower family orientated rides. The best one was probably the buzz lightyear lazer thing. In this you had a small pod which moved around past lots of enemy creatures and you used a gun to shoot at them. The best part was that you could rotate the pod by using a joystick, although Ale only realised that I was controlling the pod near the end of the ride :-)

Definitely a good day out. Not sure what we will be going next weekend though.
